INTRODUCTION:
Welcome to ASCII-World, a website totally dedicated to the art of text and ASCII programming.
For those of you new to this topic, ASCII programming refers to DOS, Windows console and Linux Console based
text programming. Only graphics involved are those provided by the ASCII character chart. Whether it's a game
based on text alone, or an application or some sort, if it's all text and ASCII, it can be shown here. So if
you are working on such a program, and you'd like people to know about it, be sure to let us know about it
either by our feedback form or simply submit your project to us via the provided link.
HOW ASCII-World BEGAN:
ASCII-World was created and is currently maintained by two fellas that happen to still
love to create ASCII applications and games using ASCII development tools.
"We like with that ASCII only idea instead of working days and weeks on graphical screen design." The
authors said. "Unlike Windows and Linux GUIs, Text Based programs were designed with speed in mind. Still today
a Text Application is so many times faster than any graphical applications." Said the authors. So from all this
came the idea to start a website totally dedicated to the world of text and ASCII development.
WHO THIS WEBSITE IS FOR:
This website is for anyone, anywhere using any language that can create DOS text/ASCII programs, Windows Console applications
and/or Linux Console applications too. Basically any language that can create programs for these platform is more than welcome
here. If you're a game creator, a business application developer, any kind of programmer that doesn't like the hassle of creating
a graphical user interface for an application that really doesn't need one, welcome aboard. ASCII-World is aimed at creating a
place where all text coders can appear, shared their programming projects, get help if they come across somekind of obstacles
in their development. It's also a place where you can post your projects no matter the type, get hands on critics, beta testing
if needed, a place that can really help you start and finish a project no matter what it's size. That's why ASCII-World exists. Maybe
you have a project, but you don't have, or want a website, but you'd like it available to others, let us know, we'll be happy to host
your programming creations for you right here on ASCII-World.
IN CONCLUSION:
There's alot of things to see here, take a look at all sections, and check them often as contents will be added as it is made
available. This is a brand new effort so some section aren't exactly content rich yet. But we are working on it. If you can
help, by making any kind of contribution to the website. Be it a project, an article, a technique, anything at all that can
add content to this website, by all means let us know, we'll be more than happy to make you a contributor of the website. Everything
here is based on our and your contributions. So whether it's a one time submission, or a constant submission of different ideas
and suggestions, the choice is yours, but do let us know.
